About CGC
Club History
The Contemporary Garden Club of Princeton was founded in 1958 by Phoebe Biddle, Martha Tattersall, and Barbara Straut. The objective of the club is to promote an interest in horticulture, particularly as it applies to the design and management of gardens and trees, flower arranging, and other subjects of related interest. CGC limits membership to 40 active members and is a collection of friends with varied levels of horticultural knowledge and experience.
The annual program calendar addresses topics as diverse as deer management, foraging for edibles, vertical gardening, and best practices for healthy and sustainable environments. Gardens of artistic and historic importance are examined, as are various design principals and techniques for both inside and outside the home.
